Canada Express Entry: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Do you have work experience in Canada and want to obtain permanent residence? Find out if the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) might be a good fit for your profile within the Express Entry system.

Express Entry is one of the main systems for obtaining permanent residence in Canada as a skilled worker. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is part of Express Entry and is designed for people who have gained eligible work experience in Canada.

If you are currently working in Canada or have recently worked there, I can help you assess whether your experience meets the CEC requirements, review your NOC and TEER, calculate your CRS score, and analyze your strategy within Express Entry.

Being eligible for CEC does not mean you will receive an invitation

Meeting the CEC requirements is only part of the process. When you enter the Express Entry pool, your profile is scored under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

The score takes into account factors such as age, education, language skills, Canadian and foreign work experience, and, where applicable, factors related to your spouse or partner. IRCC issues invitations in rounds, and you can apply for permanent residence only after receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).

That's why my analysis isn't limited to determining whether you're eligible for CEC—I also evaluate how competitive your profile is within Express Entry.

How can I help you with Express Entry?

✓Eligibility Assessment: Review of your work experience, status in Canada, language skills, education, and other relevant factors.

✓ Review of NOC and TEER: Analysis of your job duties to determine the appropriate classification.

What is Express Entry, and how does the CEC fit into it?

Express Entry is not an immigration program in and of itself. It is the system used by IRCC to process applications for permanent residence from skilled workers under three federal programs:

Express Entry administers three federal programs: the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).

On this page, we focus on CEC, which is intended for workers who have gained eligible work experience in Canada.

Do you have work experience in Canada and want to explore your path to permanent residency?

If you’re considering Express Entry, I can review your Canadian work experience, NOC, language test results, and CRS score to determine if the CEC is an option and develop a strategy tailored to your profile.

What factors are considered to determine my eligibility for CEC?

To determine whether you may be eligible under the Canadian Experience Class, the following factors are primarily reviewed:

✓ Work experience gained in Canada
✓ NOC and TEER level of your occupation
✓ Duties and characteristics of your work experience
✓ Status and authorization to work in Canada
✓ Level of English or French
✓ Duration and hours of work experience accumulated

Each profile must be evaluated individually to determine whether the experience meets the CEC requirements.
